Happy 4th Birthday!!

Amazing how time flies! On the 27th the twins turned 4 years old. I still can't believe it. They are getting so tall! The night before, they were asking about when they were born. It was cute reliving the story with them.

In the morning, we dropped Gwen off at school then went to the party store and got decorations. The twins loved being able to pick out stuff for their party. Tristan found a STARWARS hat and Ethne picked out a Hello Kitty princess crown, among other things.
We then went to Fred Meyer to pick out their cakes. Ethne picked a cupcake cake with a rainbow on it and Tristan said he just wanted a plain chocolate cake. We then had the cake lady write 'Happy Birthday' & their names.

Gwen came home around noon and helped me decorate and clean up the living room and playroom. Bri came home early and mowed the lawn, then went and got the pizza.

We threw a party for family and they started showing up around 6pm. Luckily, the sun came back out so everyone was able to play wiffle ball and goof around outside.

We all ate, then did presents... which was a massive fury of flying paper and elated screams. Tristan got enough STARWARS figures to last a while and Ethne is set on Littlest Pet Shoppe toys.

Then came cake time.... Make a wish!

Tristan, who usually doesn't like cake at all, ended up having 3 pieces (small ones, lol). I think the cake smudge on his face says it all!

Thanks to everyone who came, it was a great night, and thank you for all the presents as well.

Happy Birthday!

Daddy's Game

I had to post this picture of Tristan from Bri's game on saturday night... He found this helmet in the garage on friday and has been basically wearing it ever since. Because, you know, he's cool like that... lol.

Woodland Park Zoo

Friday Gwen's class took a field trip to the zoo and I was able to chaperon! It turned out to be a beautiful day and we got to see a lot of animals. Once we were there, we branched off into little groups. We walked around with Gwen's teacher, Ms. Cotton and two other students. We got to see a bunch of farm animals, the tropical bird house, flamingos, asian sun bears, a jaguar, and a momma gorilla with her baby. We caught up with everyone to eat lunch together, then broke off again and saw the elephants, hippos, lions, giraffes, and zebras. It was a rather quick field trip, from 10am to 1pm, so before we knew it we had to get back on the bus to go home.

Take Your Kids to Work Day

Gwen could barely go to sleep last night because she was so anxious to wake up this morning!!

Today Gwen went to school until around noon, then Daddy picked her and she got to go with him into work. She said she had the best time ever... she was very excited about making copies like on the show "Little Bill". lol. They had lots of pizza & ice cream, as well as did a scavenger hunt, played board games, made pictures, and played Rockband on the Wii.

Here are some pictures of her day... they were taken from Bri's cell phone so apologies that they are fuzzy....

(Playing "Homer Simpson Operation" with a friend)

(A picture she made for me but left it at daddy's work)

(Singing "Hungry Like the Wolf" on Rockband)

*Tomorrow we are off to the Woodland Park Zoo with her class for a field trip! Can't wait!!

Edmonds Beach

A gorgeous sunny day in Washington makes for b-e-a-utiful sunsets. We all headed down to Edmonds beach this afternoon to play and have a picnic. Luckily, we got a parking spot right away and were able to spend two and a half hours by the water. Between playing at the playground, having the picnic, and taking a walk along the water, it was a much needed relaxing evening. Before leaving, we grabbed a spot on a log and watched the sun go down as the ferries went by.

Daddy's Game

Today we went to Daddy's Baseball game... but the game was a little boring so we played in the next field over and the kids had a blast. It was the best that any of them have been at a game... they ran around, played in the dirt, and didn't act like a bunch of wackos. Momma got to watch the game and the kids had their own fun... needless to say, I hope to have many more games at those fields!

Ethne made me a dirt pie... while Tristan and Gwen made a Birthday Cake for me. The holes are where the candles go.

Toys R Us

Tonight we ventured to Toys R Us. It is always fun to see the kids get so excited to pick out their own toys.

We barely get through the entrance doors and Ethne is already asking repeatedly, "Where are the Barbie's?". She looks and picks out a Barbie, which she carries throughout the rest of the store. Tristan & Gwen take their time and decide to see all the toys first before making a decision.

Gwen's decision comes down to a few horse figures or a purse full of make-up. Well, that was an easy decision... lots of pretty stuff to spread all over everything or a few cool horses that just sit there... hmmmm.

Upon seeing this, Ethne then decides that she too MUST have some make-up as well. The quest begins for a different, yet equally cool, make-up kit for Ethne. And then there it is... a Tinkerbell make-up kit. Whoo-hoo! But... then the realization sinks in that she can only have 1 toy...

Tristan is getting impatient over this whole debacle, as he already picked his toy - STARWARS figures, of course - and wants to leave. He was actually rolling his eyes repeatedly & sighing. (Dude, it only gets worse as you get older... get used to it)

And in the end, the Tinkerbell make-up kit wins... as she cannot let Gwen be the only one to get out of the store with something as cool as make-up.

She's Safe!!

Penny Lane, our Boston Terrier/Chihuahua mix, is about 4 months old now and she loves to lay in the sun. Later she goes in for her shots, so I am glad that she has been spending most of the day relaxing in the sun.

Today's chosen spot was the wiffle ball home plate in our back yard... Way to lay out for it Pen! I think the big show will be calling soon!

Fire Fighters are COOL!

Gwen's class got a visit from the local Fire Fighters and she was so excited... "Mom, Fire Fighters are so COOL!" They all got fire hats & sticker badges, a tour of the truck, and got to sit in the driver's seat.

Needless to say, Gwen now aspires to be a Fire Fighter. Love that girl.
